    Seeking: Tour of Homes Participants

    19th Annual Tour of Homes

    Sunday, May 21, 2017

It's time to put your house on the Parkside Tour of Homes!

Every year the Parkside Tour of Homes invites people from the city, suburbs, and even Toronto and Rochester to visit our neighborhood. It's a chance for us to show off a little, share our unique slice of Buffalo, and raise money for PCA efforts throughout the year. But it can seem daunting to put your home on the tour, and we understand! Here are some of the common reasons why people are hesitant to sign up (and why it's no big deal):

"I'm nervous about strangers coming into my house."

That's natural, and that's why each home on the tour has a dedicated group of docents who are there to talk about the features of your house, mind your belongings, and keep visitors out of areas you'd rather not be visited such as a more private second floor.

    "My house isn't nice enough."

If you've done work to your house or get compliments from visitors, it's probably nice enough to be on the home tour. We're not looking for movie sets; we're looking for real homes with character and love. Don't be shy!

"But we're not done with all the work we want to do yet."

Are we ever? Future plans - and "before" photos - make great talking points on the tour.

    "What if it rains?"

If the forecast calls for wet weather, tour guests are provided with shoe covers and instructed to wear them when entering the house.

Still not sure? We'd be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have, and even put you in touch with homeowners in the neighborhood who have had their homes on the tour in the past. We're looking for a few more homes by the end of February, so if you're thinking about it, please get in touch at or call 716-838-1240.

We are also looking for committee members to help with planning. Reach out to us if you think volunteering for the Tour of Homes would be a good fit for you.
