First Annual Parkside Partners Award Ceremony and PCA Annual Meeting
Tuesday, January 15, 2013.
This year the meeting will be held at the Elam Jewett Cafe at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 96 Jewett Parkway.
We will be presenting our annual report to the membership, recognizing those that have donated so much of their time and energy to Parkside, and elect the Board of Directors for 2013. The evening will begin at 6:30, and includes light refreshments. In years past we've held a pot luck supper prior to the annual meeting, but this year we are focused on a light selection of desserts and drinks.

The 2012 Meeting
On Tuesday night, January 17th, over 75 people came out despite the wind and snow to take part in our annual meeting, and elect a new board of directors for 2012. Newly elected County Executive Mark Poloncarz came to answer questions from our membership on a number of issues of interest to Parkside, including funding for the new Arctic exhibit at the Buffalo Zoo, and development planning for Erie Community College. The general theme of his presentation was 'as goes the City, so goes the county' highlighting his commitment to Buffalo as the economic and cultural generator for much of Western NY.
Parkside Partner awards were given to:
- Councilman Michael LoCurto, for consistently supporting the efforts of the PCA both financially, and otherwise throughout the years.
- Michael De Freitas for his countless hours of pro bono legal advice leading up to the adoption of our revised by-laws.
- George Emery, for his redesign and management of our website.
- Prish Moran, of Sweetness-7 Cafe for helping to spark a resurgence of investment in the commercial strip along Parkside Avenue.
We also marked the occasion by thanking those board members that were stepping down after years of service:
- Adam Roma
- Dr. Albert Titus
- Bernie Wagner
- Jan Barber
- Mike Ahern
- Mike Riester
- Nancy Abramo
And our Board president for the last three years, Candace Lynn Bell.
Our 2011 Residential Rehab award was issued to Brandon Brozi for his restoration of 344 Woodward Avenue. Our 2011 Commercial Rehab award went to the owners of FairyCakes Cupcakery at 289 Parkside Avenue.
A special thank you then to all that participated, to our award winners, and retiring board members. It's very helpful to all that we do to have public officials see that our membership, when called upon, will show up whatever the weather.
