     Family Fun Night: Health and Wellness

    A week from today, Friday, July 28, 2017 | 6-8PM
    Parkside Lodge | 84 Parkside Avenue Buffalo, NY 14214

    Parkside's Family Fun Night presents a special Health and Wellness focused event with special guests Radiant Chiropractic and Yoga Parkside. Radiant Chiropractic will be offering mini massage sessions for the parents and YogaParkside will be offering two sessions of a family yoga experience for all ages. The event will provide food and refreshments for guests. **$5/family donation suggested to cover event costs**

    We are excited to announce our 2017 Movies in the Meadow line up!

    Please join us on the lawn in front of the Lodge in Delaware Park (near the intersection of Florence and Parkside) at dusk, every Friday in August, and the first Friday in September. All films are rated PG or below, unless noted.

    August 4 - The Secret Life of Pets
    August 11 - The Natural (filmed in Parkside!)
    August 18 - Hidden Figures
    August 25 - The Wizard of OZ
    September 1 - Star Wars: Rogue One (PG13)

    Block Club Grant Application

    Application Materials are Due Before 4PM, August 4, 2017

    The Delaware District Block Club Grant Program is designed to match the hard work of block clubs/civic organizations in the Delaware District with financial resources for use in physical and aesthetic improvement projects in their respective neighborhoods.

    Eligible Applicants
    • Recognized block clubs/civic organizations in the Delaware District.
    • Priority will be given to organizations whose mission is related to improving the Delaware District and those with a proven record of doing so.

    Eligible Projects
    • Flowers, shrubs, and/or landscaping
    • Community gardens
    • Trash/debris removal, beautification
    • Graffiti removal
    • Signage

    Ineligible Projects
    • Rehabilitation of private properties, businesses, or schools.
    • “Soft” projects such as award ceremonies, block club parties, trainings, etc.
     
    Terms
    • Grants awarded shall not exceed $500.  
    • Applicants may only apply for funding once during the 2017 funding period.
    • Funds will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis (original invoices/estimates and receipts are required for reimbursement!).  Original invoices/estimates should be turned in with this application.  Receipts should be attached to the reimbursement form, which will be distributed if your organization is selected for participation in the program.
    • Requests for reimbursement must be placed at the Parkside Community Association (2318 Main Street) on established forms and signed by individuals representing the grantee.
    • Funds may only be used for items included in the application.
    • If funded, project organizers will be asked to submit photos of their projects within thirty days of completion.

    Application Deadlines

    Applications are due by 4pm on Friday, August 4th, 2017 and should be delivered to Councilmember Feroleto’s office (1405 City Hall).  If submitting via mail, the application must be post marked August 1st.  Applications may also be submitted via e-mail to jhurley@city-buffalo.com. Any application submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

    Project Evaluation

    Applications will be evaluated based upon the quality of information provided and adherence to the terms and stipulations described herein.  After review, each organization shall receive a communication advising them of approval or denial of their application.  If a project fails to remain within established guidelines, all remaining funds will be recaptured.

    Reading Invasion

    Monday, July 24, 2017 | 7PM to 8PM
    Broderick Park (Located at the foot of West Ferry St. and set beside the Niagara River. Meeting at the southern tip.)

    Participants bring something to read and “invade” one of our many beautiful public spaces around Buffalo. This isn’t a book club; just a time to come together, to enjoy the act of reading, and to remind our fellow Buffalonians that reading is an essential element of many of our lives.



    So bring a book and bring a friend, and join us for an hour of reading, relaxing, and gathering in one of our most beautiful public spaces.

    Public Statement Hearing for Proposed Energy Rate Hike

    Tuesday, August 1, 2017 | Information Sessions at 2PM & 6PM; Public Statement Hearings at 3PM & 7PM

    In April 2017, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation d/b/a National Grid, requested that the New York State Public Service Commission approve a proposed increase in its electric and gas delivery rates. Information about the the rate proposal can be found at the Commission's www.dps.ny.gov website. Click on "search," and enter the case number (17-E-0238 and 17-G-0239).
