In case you missed it, last Saturday was our first annual PCA Beer Tasting event at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Two breweries, Flying Bison, and Community Beer Works, offered up free samples to PCA members and guests, a blind taste test revealed that Parksiders prefer Coronas but shy away from Genny Lite, and Marty Weinberger won our door prize of a Flying Bison brewery tour for himself and 19 of his closest friends. Overall about 75 people turned out, raising about $140 for other membership events.
This is the PCA’s 48th year of service to the neighborhood. Dave and Ruth Lampe are offering a challenge – they want to get 48 new members who will join at the $50 membership level or above and they will add $10 to each membership. There are at least 48 reasons to join the PCA, but let’s concentrate on just one: The funding crisis in New York State has had a negative impact on our programming for children and for the neighborhood. We face a harsh reality--we must look to ourselves (not the government) to keep this organization alive and vibrant.
The Parkside Community Association "Members Only" Beer Tasting is coming up March 26th. 7pm at Jewett Hall at the Church of the Good Shepard, Jewett & Summit. Three local breweries will be providing samples of their top beers. This is a 21+ event with a $5 donation and each member can sponsor a guest. Snacks and good fun. This is another of the PCA's Cabin Fever series of member only events.
Thank you for your membership. We appreciate your support of the neighborhood.
