    HONORING RUTH LAMPE

The Parkside Community Association is honored to announce a sign dedicated in memory of Parkside community activist, Ruth Lampe. The sign will be fittingly displayed at the corner of Parkside and Florence Avenues. She served for decades as a PCA board member and president, Chair of the PCA Traffic Committee, and volunteer—earning the nickname “Deputy Dog”. In her tireless efforts to improve the safety in the Parkside Neighborhood, Mrs. Lampe was instrumental in securing the light at the intersection. An unveiling of the sign will take place at noon on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Please join us in honoring Mrs. Lampe and her contributions to making Parkside a better place for all of us to live, work and play.

NYS Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Tax Credit Expansion Effort

In January of 2018, The PCA sent the below linked letter to Assembly members Crystal Peoples-Stokes and Sean Ryan to express our support for expanded access to the NYS Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program to all of Parkside. It is currently restricted by census tracts which exclude much of Parkside.

Parkside is already designated as a Historic District in the National Register, but all of the benefits of this designation have not yet been extended. The biggest benefit would be to homeowners who would have access to the New York State Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Tax Credit. Work on the residential structures may qualify for tax credits, which would cover 20% of qualified rehabilitation costs, up to $50,000 in tax credits.
