There are several facets/strategies to our work

Design   We seek to use signage, restriping, and other practical technical methods, such as those in the DPW’s “toolbox,” to enhance safety and to calm traffic. Additionally, we have contributed our own solutions to the City’s toolbox, such as through neighborhood beautification efforts, such as community gardens, benches, little libraries, etc.

Communication   We hope always to seek and share information with Parksiders about traffic issues in the neighborhood and potential solutions through community meetings, web postings, mailings, and demonstrations. The Traffic Committee will advocate for Parkside with the various parts of the City and State in regard to all of these traffic issues.

Enforcement   We work with the neighborhood police precinct on the need for enforcement of traffic laws. A regular police presence not only leads to penalizing law breakers, but has a deterrent effect that creates boundaries within which safe driving prevails.
