    Recap: Parkside Partners Award Ceremony and PCA Annual Meeting 2019

    On Tuesday, January 15, the PCA members and supporters came together to celebrate the successes of 2018, hear updates from Buffalo Olmstead Parks Conservancy and select new board members. 

    2019 pCA AWARD RECIPIENTS:

    Robert "Bob" Barends Memorial Award:  THE PARKSIDE MEADOW  

    The Robert ‘Bob’ Barends Memorial Award is named in memory of a man who embodied community spirit, neighborliness, and a willingness to always lend a hand. This award is given to a Parksider who is willing to take matters into his or her own hands to make Parkside a better place. 


    Jack C. Anthony Award: AMBER SMALL

    The Jack C. Anthony Award is named in honor of one of the founding organizers of the PCA who has spent over 50 years giving back to Parkside. This award is given to someone who has shown overall community leadership and used his or her stature for the good of our neighborhood.


    Ruth Lampe Memorial Award: TEAM CADZOW RESEARCH STATION

    The Ruth Lampe Memorial Award is named in memory of a woman who was never afraid to stand up and advocate for what was right for our Parkside neighborhood. Simply put, this lady who was affectionately called "The Little General" had real Chutzpah! From successfully advocating for the installation of a traffic light at the corner of Parkside and Florence in 1976 to the completion of a neighborhood wide traffic study in more recent years, Ruth was behind many of our most community's important efforts. 

    This award is given to a Parksider who embodies the same strong leadership qualities and willingness to advocate on issues important to residents of the Parkside neighborhood, no matter how difficult the task at hand may seem.


    The Parkside Partner Award: HENRIK BORGSTROM AND DONNA DECAROLIS, RUPINDER AND NAVPREET JATANA, BILL AND MATT QUAGLIANO, TERRIE KELLY, RICH WOLF AND LAURIE OUSLEY

    The Parkside Partner Award is given to individuals for working to make the Parkside Community a better place for all to live, work, and recreate in 2018.

    Information from the Community

    FREE RABIES CLINIC  

    North Buffalo Community Center is hosting the Erie CountyDepartment of Environmental Health's free rabies clinic.  On January 30th, 2019 at 3PM - 7PM the clinic will be giving out rabies shots to dogs, cats, and ferrets.  * Please bring all animals in a carrier or on a leash  If possible please provide a copy of your pets vaccination records.

    PCA Century Home Plaque Program

    The Parkside Century Home Plaque Program celebrates our historically designed Frederick Law Olmsted neighborhood and the significance of its homes. The plaque is available to all homeowners in Parkside. The circa option is used for years that are estimated (for example, circa 1899).  The cost of the plaque is $200.00 which includes shipping and handling to the PCA office.
