Recap: Parkside Partners Award Ceremony and PCA Annual Meeting 2019

On Tuesday, January 15, the PCA members and supporters came together to celebrate the successes of 2018, hear updates from Buffalo Olmstead Parks Conservancy and select new board members.

Robert "Bob" Barends Memorial Award:  THE PARKSIDE MEADOW

The Robert ‘Bob’ Barends Memorial Award is named in memory of a man who embodied community spirit, neighborliness, and a willingness to always lend a hand. This award is given to a Parksider who is willing to take matters into his or her own hands to make Parkside a better place.

Jack C. Anthony Award: AMBER SMALL

The Jack C. Anthony Award is named in honor of one of the founding organizers of the PCA who has spent over 50 years giving back to Parkside. This award is given to someone who has shown overall community leadership and used his or her stature for the good of our neighborhood.

Ruth Lampe Memorial Award: TEAM CADZOW RESEARCH STATION

The Ruth Lampe Memorial Award is named in memory of a woman who was never afraid to stand up and advocate for what was right for our Parkside neighborhood. Simply put, this lady who was affectionately called "The Little General" had real Chutzpah! From successfully advocating for the installation of a traffic light at the corner of Parkside and Florence in 1976 to the completion of a neighborhood wide traffic study in more recent years, Ruth was behind many of our most community's important efforts.

This award is given to a Parksider who embodies the same strong leadership qualities and willingness to advocate on issues important to residents of the Parkside neighborhood, no matter how difficult the task at hand may seem.

The Parkside Partner Award is given to individuals for working to make the Parkside Community a better place for all to live, work, and recreate in 2018.

Our sincere appreciation for the efforts of our committee chairs in 2018! If you are interested in getting involved in planning one of our events or serving on one of our committees please contact our office, 716-838-1240 or [email protected]
