Free Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors for Parkside Seniors!

    Saturday, April 8, 2017

If you’re 65 or older, or if you have a permanent medical condition that limits your ability to install your own detectors, please let the PCA know. We’re planning a free installation day to assist our neighbors in need on Saturday, April 8. Even if you already have detectors, you may need to replace them. Carbon monoxide detectors last only 5 years, and smoke detectors last about 8-10 years.

If you or someone you know could use our assistance, please let us know! For more information and to sign up, please call the PCA at 716-838-1240 or email us at PCAdirector@gmail.com. Our student volunteers will soon be calling all Parkside seniors for whom we have phone numbers about this offer.

If you are available to volunteer, we could use a few more hands to help with support and supervision on our installation day. Reach out to our office, 716-838-1240, or email PCAdirector@gmail.com

This is a service of the PCA’s Aging in Place Committee, with assistance from UB students and staff.

    News from the PCA

How Has the PCA Helped YOU?

We are working on a project to generate "Human Interest" stories that highlight the impact the Parkside Community Association (PCA) has had on the people of Parkside. These stories are planned to be written, with the possibility of expanding to video. They will be used in ongoing efforts by the PCA to highlights how donations and programming are impacting the community and the neighbors who make it so wonderful. They may appear in print, on social media or in our email newsletters and communications.

ReTree efforts organized and facilitated by residents with support from the PCA and the City.

We'd greatly appreciate your time in telling your story. If you are interested in answering questions for our campaign efforts and possibly being a part of video and photo accompaniments, please reach out to the office, 716-838-1240 or PCAdirector@gmail.com.

Thank you for all your extraordinary efforts to make Parkside such a wonderful place.

    Julie Lewitzky Drawings

The Parkside Community Association office is decorated in some of the original home drawings by Julie Lewitzky. If you have a drawing of your home, would you share a copy with us? You may send images to PCAdirector@gmail.com, or stop by the office and we will scan your drawing. Thank you for contributing to our neighborhood archives!

Additionally, if you have researched your home, have stories about previous owners or the history that took place in your house, or know about the architect or something about the changes made to your home over time, that is something we would love to know too.

If you want to participate in this project, please contact the PCA, 716-838-1240 or PCAdirector@gmail.com, and we can work together.
