    News from the PCA

    Crime Prevention

There has been a marked increase in property crime in Parkside.  This indicates people living nearby who are looking both, day and night, for burglary opportunities.  Please keep your cars locked, house secure (including windows on the first floor), and report all suspicious activity to the police.

The rear of your house is particularly important because burglars like to be unnoticed when they work.  Window bars on first floor windows off of decks, motion-sensor lights in side alleyway, and locks on sheds, are just some of the prevention methods you may employ.

While your particular case may not be solved, and police may display their frustration while taking the information, filing a report is vital to cue trends in crime where further action is required by district police.  Fighting crime is a group effort.

Art Glass of the Darwin Martin House

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House is pleased to announce a historical repatriation of seven art glass windows from the University of Victoria’s Legacy Art Gallery’s collection to be reinstated to their original locations at the Martin House.  This is a generous, altruistic act of stewardship to be celebrated as an inspiration for other institutions to do the “Wright” thing and return artworks to their original home within a meaningful context.

An exhibit at the Legacy Art Gallery will bid farewell to the light screens, and the Martin House will welcome the pieces later this year.
